R10 & Creative Arts Project

In partnership with Bedford Creative Arts, we will be taking part in the Airship Dreams project- a celebration of Bedford’s history with the airship and Cardington Sheds, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the last flight of the infamous R101.

The project will culminate in an exhibition at The Higgins Museum, hosting some of the children’s work, which (Covid dependent) all the children will be able to visit as part of a group trip. As well as this exhibition, we will also be creating a pop-up Shortstown Primary School museum which will incorporate all the children’s hard work.

Continuing with our usual curriculum, the staff have created overviews inspired by the R101,  enabling children to delve into all aspects of the era. There will be a variety of activities, with input from local artists, scientists, story tellers and collaborators to help the children with their investigations.
